GMC Canyon

Canyon delivers a new sport suspension package, SLT trim on Extended and Crew Cab models, and the GM Passenger Sensing (air bag) System for front seat passengers.

The sport suspension features a 22-mm rear stabilizer bar, high-pressure monotube shocks, quick-ratio power steering and rubber/urethane jounce bumpers. For an even sportier look, ZQ8-equipped Canyon models have a two-inch lower ride height than those equipped with the base Z85 suspension, ride on 17-inch aluminum wheels shod with P235/50R17 tires and feature body-colored wheel flares.

Canyon customers have a choice of two powerful engines: a 2.8-liter inline four-cylinder and the optional 3.5-liter inline five-cylinder. The standard 2.8-liter I-4 delivers 175 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque. The optional 3.5-liter I-5 puts out 220 hp and 225 lb.-ft. of torque – performance that is equal to, or better than, many competitors’ V6 powerplants.

Standard on both engines is a five-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed automatic transmission is available.
