Hello Tucker -

Marc Rauch
I'm a regular viewer and a long-term fan of your shows. However, I was very surprised by your broadcasts from Brazil.

You spent several days in Brazil, reporting on the political, economic, and social life of the second most populated country in the western hemisphere. Their population is equal to the United Kingdom, France, and Germany combined. In terms of land, Brazil is the 3rd largest country in the western hemisphere, slightly less than Canada and the United States.

You presented intriguing, interesting, and insightful interviews and analysis. But you left out the most important topic: Brazil's reliance and successful use of ethanol fuel.

Brazil has been using ethanol-gasoline blends since the 1920s. They have mandated E15 and higher blends since the late 1970s. They have mandated E27 since 2015.

Considering how the price of petroleum oil and gasoline is the single hottest news topic in the free world, you never once talked about how Brazil was able to survive and even prosper for decades by adding significant quantities of domestically produced ethanol to gasoline. It's hard to imagine that Brazilian President Bolsonaro didn't mention ethanol. Did you guys edit it out?

You have never shown yourself to be a supporter of ethanol fuel, and you routinely skip over the subject or demean it when you cover issues related to energy and the environment. There you were, in the perfect place to put an end once and for all to any positive hype about ethanol fuel, but you never mentioned it.

If ethanol causes engine damage, as ethanol opponents claim, you could have demonstrated it. If ethanol is responsible for creating more pollution, as other ethanol detractors claim, you could have revealed the evidence. If ethanol triggers respiratory illnesses, you could have exposed it.

On the other hand, if you really wanted to give your worldwide audience some hope and present a fair picture of Brazil, you could have - and should have - presented the true beneficial story of ethanol fuel.

I hate to say it, but you let a lot of people down. I thought you are the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness and group think. What happened?

Cordially,

Marc Rauch
