I had the great pleasure to be part of Brian and Darren Hefty's Ag PhD radio show on Thursday afternoon. For those who don't know brothers Darren and Brian, they are actual farmers and owners of Hefty Seed Company, producers of a daily one-hour radio show, a 30-minute weekly television show, and now the publishers of a bi-monthly magazine. All of their media entities are produced under the name "Ag PhD." You can get more information about all of Brian and Darren's activities at http://www.agphd.com.

The topic of today's show was...you guessed it: ETHANOL and RENEWABLE FUELS. The first and featured guest on the show was Jeff Broin, Founder and CEO of POET, the world's largest producer of biofuels. Jeff spoke about the state of the ethanol fuel industry and strategic issues.
I was the show's second and final guest, and I primarily answered questions related to the most egregious arguments against the use of ethanol fuel and the agricultural crops used to make ethanol. The entire show can be heard by CLICKING ON THE WHITE ARROW IN THE RED CIRCLE in the window just below.
Jeff Broin's segment begins at about the 10-minute mark, and my segments begin at about the 22:30 mark.
The issues I talked about are all issues that I've written about on several occasions. Four of them appear at first blush to pose serious questions: "Ethanol Ground/Ozone Smog," "the Relevance of BTUs," "Hypoxia," and the myth of "Ethanol Damage to Engines." However, they're only problematic to people who don't know the facts and history. If you're interested in my fuller responses to the claims that ethanol fuel causes these problems please review the following reports, respectively:
