EL SEGUNDO - November 24, 2010: Motor Trend announced today the release of the iPad edition of its magazine, now available at the App Store. The brand's easy-to-navigate application is designed to optimize iPad functionality for Motor Trend readers, providing the inspiration, information and readability of the print edition, while adding bonus material and interactive features, which take advantage of the iPad's innovative display and Multi-Touch interface.
Featuring compelling print and photographic content from the magazine that millions of people love each month and expanding upon it, the new Motor Trend iPad interactive magazine represents a shift in the way readers connect with the magazine. The new iPad edition of the magazine features integrated video, audio commentary from the editorial staff and new ways of comparing data in head-to-head tests.
In its premiere issue, the magazine allows users to virtually reveal Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" award by removing a virtual wrap across the iPad's display, revealing the 2011 Chevrolet Volt as this year's honoree.
The issue also features a head-to-head shootout between two famed Italian manufacturers - Ducati Motorcycles and its automotive counterpart Ferrari. User's can zoom in and out on the track where testing was conducted and even select their favorite portions of the course and watch videos of the two machines traversing the section in comparative fashion with one vehicle superimposed over the other.
Each story in Motor Trend's iPad magazine is unique in that it offers editorial commentary beyond what is in the print publication or even online. Essentially, the iPad version of the magazine marries the best of both print and web, adding additional features special to the iPad and integrates them seamlessly into an all-new product the consumer has never experienced before.
"The iPad was made for Motor Trend, this interactive medium allows us to put readers behind the wheels of their favorite vehicles and interact with content like never before," said Motor Trend Editor-in-Chief Angus MacKenzie. "This is more than just the magazine in another format; it represents a richer, deeper, more immersive Motor Trend experience for readers."
The Motor Trend app is available for ($3.99) from the App Store (Download Motor Trend App at iTunes here).
