Since 1974, Roadtrek had been known as Home & Park Motorhomes, which produced a brand badged as Roadtrek. But the company officially changed its name in 2007 to Roadtrek Motorhomes.

In 1974, Jac Hanemaayer of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, became interested in an RV for personal use. He liked the spacious room and comfort offered by Class A and C motorhomes, but didn't like the sheer size of them. To enjoy the convenience and mobility of a smaller vehicle, he checked out the Class B motorhome (camper van) market. Being unable to find all the comforts of a larger motorhome within the convenient and efficient size of a van, he designed one for himself and had it built by fledgling Home & Park Vehicles. When it was finished, he liked it so much, he bought the company!

With many years of personal RVing experience, Hanemaayer completely re-designed the product in 1980 with his distinctive low-profile roof, lowered floor, unique three-section floor plan and many additional patented innovations. The Roadtrek camper van was thus born, with the slogan: “The Motorhome that Drives like a Van.” Popularity grew quickly and U.S. sales began in 1983, soon accounting for 80% of volume. With son Jeff Hanemaayer at the helm since 1985, the Roadtrek company increased its distribution throughout Canada and the U.S., partnered with more than 100 dealers coast-to-coast. Sales to Japan started in 1991.

Roadtrek is exclusively devoted to Class B motorhomes, and has been the #1 selling Class B manufacturer in North America since 1990. The Roadtrek is available on Chevrolet or Sprinter van chassis, with several different wheelbase sizes and overall lengths ranging from 19 to 22 feet. The company built its 20,000 vehicle in May, 2006.

Kitchener is located in southeastern Ontario, about 60 miles from Toronto. The current 120,000 sq.ft. manufacturing facility employs 200 workers and is the largest North American Class B motorhome factory.
