New Car/Review Alfa Romeo Nuvola

by Paul Negyesi

Tazio Nuvolari was one of the greates GP drivers of all times. To name a car after him underlines the desire to combine Alfa's glorious past and possible future in it.

Fiat forced Alfa to withdrew the concept car from the Turin Autoshow, this Spring. They feared it'd upset their Bravo(a) styling parade.
Knowing the overwhelming reaction to the car at Paris, they were right. The proportions are classic: long bonnet and wheelbase, cabin placed almost above the rear axle.
On the other hand the wheels, the pin-headlights are unbdoubtedly modern.
And I didn't say a word about what's under the skin! Look inside and You'll see what's coming soon: the engine, 2.5-litre 24-valve V6 was borrowed from the forthcoming 164-replacement, the 166. It was placed at the front, longitudinal.
The interior contains classic and modern elements: sterring wheel with the rim made of wood - hi-fi system.
The car look bigger than the GTV, but their length is almost the same: 4286 mm (1 mm difference from the GTV). The wheelbase is 60 mm longer, 2600 mm and the car is wider - hence the feeling.
Alfa claimed that the Nuvola is only a dream. Sadly, it'll not turn into reality.
