Gábor Országh
by Paul Negyesi
You can't see from the photo of Tasi, but he's a real character. Országh is more down-to-earth, an average teenager but, man, he_has_ ideas. "Since I can articulate the word »automobile» I always drew cars"but he finished an ordinary grammar school. He studied art, drawing more careful and then applied to the University of Crafts and Design with sketches about - cars among others. He was one of the few who when showed cars weren't immediately rejected. According to the laws he was obliged to serve in the army for a year. From the beginning of the school he tried to include car-design in hisschedule in some ways, but the teachers didn't respect his enthusiasm for car-design. The Mazomoto Group gives mental support too. It was before the Opel design contest in 1992 that he met with Kukorelli so he brought some sketches to Fodor too.
And the finished 1:5 scale model:
This model clearly visualise the ideology of Országh:"I always loved animals. I want to combine the dynamism of animals and the spiritual forces of cars". The Toro represents the brutalism of the bull with style.
His next project, which is only realized as a clay model up to date, is a motorbike, known as Danubia. The Danube river is one of the symbols of Hungary. Danuvia on the other hand was a Hungarian motorbike factory in the '60s.
It also shows the influence of studying the animal moves. He wants to salvage the old to the new, keeping the values. The bike is his favourite design.
In 1994 he graduated. His work for the diplom was a mountain bike helmet. He linked a purpose-built item together with a shell and a fighting viper. The two small head-lamps shoud be directed separately:
In the mean time three Mazomoto members: he, Tasi and Üveges got together to rebody an Opel Kadett, in the possession of Országh. There were rivalling designs:

The later graphics show a nose which also appeared at the front of the 424. Országh has to finish the car on his own, 'cause Tasi withdrew due to some disagreements and Üveges too. This is the current state of the build-up. Some of the polyurethane panels are shaped, but it's a long way to go
Országh isn't complaining, he even helped during the 424. Currently he works on a caravan, which should be completed by summer. I asked him, whether he wants to live abroad? "The history of our family is full of moves: when a part of Hungary was taken away a part of thefamily went with it. So now the big-family lives throughout Europe. I hope there'll be European level here, so I can remain in Hungary".
