Toyota Names Irv Miller Group Vice President of External AffairsTORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 30 Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. (TMS) announced today the appointment of Irving A. Miller to Group Vice President, External Affairs, effective February 1, 2001. Miller began his career with Toyota in 1980 as merchandising manager in the San Francisco Region. Since then, he has held several regional management positions including field operations manager of the Denver Region, assistant general manager of the Cincinnati Region and general manager of the Kansas City Region. Miller also served as market representation manager for Toyota and the Lexus Division, corporate manager, advertising-merchandising for the Toyota Division, vice president, field operations, Customer Services and vice president of sales for Lexus. Most recently, Miller was vice president of the Office of the Web, a group of top marketing and technology professionals organized to unify Toyota's electronic commerce programs. "Miller's twenty-plus year career with TMS makes him an excellent choice for the company's top communications position," said James E. Press, TMS executive vice president and chief operating officer. "He has a unique understanding of the automobile business having worked in all facets of the industry from regional management to laying the foundation for Toyota's entry into e-commerce." Miller assumes the position formerly held by James R. Olson, who was named senior vice president of external and regulatory affairs for Toyota Motor North America in February, 2000. Olson will continue to oversee all external affairs activities of the various Toyota companies in North America.
