Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Program Reports Record-Breaking Year

    TORRANCE, Calif., Jan. 18 Toyota Motor Sales (TMS),
U.S.A., Inc., today reported best-ever year-end total sales of Toyota
Certified Used Vehicles with 154,910 units sold, an impressive 22.4 percent
increase compared to the same period last year.  December also marked the 10th
consecutive month Toyota Certified Used Vehicle sales have exceeded
12,000 units.

    December sales of Toyota Certified Used Vehicles totaled 12,002 units, an
increase of 19.1 percent compared to December 1999.

    "Toyota's Certified Used Vehicle Program produced 'best-ever' monthly
sales records in 11 out of 12 months in calendar-year 2000.  Our tremendous
success is directly attributed to our dealers commitment to achieve the
highest levels of excellence," said Ron Broughman, TMS corporate manager, used
vehicle operations department.  "By taking quality vehicles and backing up
their performance with an exceptional warranty, Toyota continues to set the
standard in the Certified Used Vehicle arena.  Consumers appreciate our
efforts and it shows."

    The Toyota Certified Used Vehicle program, established in 1996, continues
to provide one of the best certified warranties in the industry.  The
warranty, from date of first use, includes six-year, 100,000-mile limited
powertrain coverage, as well as an optional comprehensive six-year
100,000-mile vehicle service agreement.  And, 24-hour roadside assistance also
is provided free of charge for one year.

    All 1996-2001 models with less than 65,000 miles are eligible for the
program.  Prior to sale, each vehicle receives a rigorous 128-point mechanical
inspection and must be reconditioned to meet Toyota's stringent appearance
standards.

    "The future looks very bright," added Broughman.  "We expect the Toyota
Certified Used Vehicle Program to continue to grow in 2001, producing another
record-setting sales year."
