Cray Inc. Receives Order for Two Cray SV1 Supercomputers From Peugeot Citroen
SEATTLE & PARIS--Jan. 18, 2001--Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc. today announced an order for two Cray SV1(TM) supercomputer systems plus a Cray J90(TM) upgrade from Peugeot Citroen Automobiles SA (PSA), Paris. To date, the worldwide automotive firm has ordered eight Cray SV1 systems. Financial terms were not disclosed.
"Peugeot Citroen uses Cray Inc. technology for crucial aspects of our automotive design process," said Christophe Prigent, in charge of scientific computing at the IT Division of PSA. "Deploying multiple Cray SV1 systems gives us powerful, highly reliable supercomputing capability for our Crash and Safety applications."

The Cray SV1 supercomputer was named one of the "Best Supercomputers" for 2000 by the readership of Scientific Computing & Instrumentation magazine. Co-winner of the award was the Cray T3E(TM) product. More than 100 Cray SV1 systems have been installed since general availability began in August 1999. Half of that volume has come from outside of the United States.
