Briggs & Stratton Announces Succession PlansMILWAUKEE, Jan. 17 Briggs & Stratton Corporation : Briggs & Stratton announced today that Frederick P. Stratton, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, notified its Board of Directors last year of his intent to retire as an officer at the end of this year. The Nominating, Compensation and Governance Committee and the Board of Directors have been planning for an orderly management succession for several years. Effective July 1, 2001, Mr. Stratton will relinquish his position as Chief Executive Officer and John S. Shiely, currently President and Chief Operating Officer, will become President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation. Mr. Stratton will continue in his position as Chairman of the Board.
