Nation's 15th Largest Law Firm Continues to Grow in Detroit; Foley & Lardner Adds Five Associates to Detroit Office
DETROIT--Jan. 17, 2001--Foley & Lardner, the nation's 15th largest law firm -- which opened a Detroit office last October -- today announced the addition of five new associates to its growing list of attorneys in the firm's Detroit office."These new associates bring a broad range of experience and diversity to our Detroit team," said Gerald J. Those joining the office include:
-- | Peter C. Bolton, an associate in Foley & Lardner's business law department. Bolton joins Foley & Lardner after three years at Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn. He counsels clients with respect to loan workouts, troubled supplier situations, litigation and resolution of commercial and bankruptcy disputes, and the preparation of front-end loan documentation. Bolton has extensive experience in the financial services industry, having served as a director in the syndications department of First Chicago Capital Markets' Detroit office, and in various other capacities with NBD Bank in Detroit. |
-- | Ella M. Bully-Cummings, an associate in the labor and employment practice group of the litigation department. Bully-Cummings represents and counsels employers regarding Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and other discrimination-related regulations. She previously worked as an associate attorney at Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. Prior to her legal experience, Bully-Cummings served 22 years as a member of the Detroit Police Department, retiring with the executive rank of Commander. |

He represents and counsels public and private companies in mergers, acquisitions and sales of corporate assets, entity formation and governance, venture capital transactions, start-up businesses, general real estate matters and commercial lending negotiation and documentation. |

Phillips comes to Foley & Lardner's Detroit office after three years at Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C. He represents business clients in all aspects of wrongful discharge and breach of contract claims, handles labor arbitrations and contract negotiations, and advises employers on grievance issues. He has extensive experience in the representation of airlines in litigation under the Railway Labor Act, and local school districts in all aspects of school law. Phillips' previous experience includes serving as an assistant prosecuting attorney and a probate court juvenile probation officer in Saginaw County. |

The law firm currently represents several of the largest Detroit-based companies in the automotive and related industries, including tier-one automotive suppliers, and will expand that representation to additional Detroit- and Michigan-based companies through its Detroit office.
