Visteon Sees Collaboration as Key to Industry's New Supply Chain Model
DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 17 Visteon Corporation ,
one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive components and integrated
systems, sees collaboration as the most effective way to reduce costs and to
deliver innovative technology, President and Chief Operating Officer Mike
Johnston said today.

"At Visteon we are taking the lead in forming a collaborative community,
not only with our customers, but also with our suppliers, our competitors and
our non-traditional, non-automotive partners," Johnston told the Automotive
News World Congress.
"No company is an island. We are looking at virtual partnerships,
technical partnerships and handshake agreements -- anything that makes sense,"
Johnston added. "Boundaries between suppliers will blur as collaboration
becomes the new model."
Anticipating automakers' needs and offering solutions that differentiate
their vehicles is the way to grow Visteon's business both with Ford and all
its customers.
Visteon is structuring to respond more quickly to customer needs, to
consolidate manufacturing, product development and marketing, and to
centralize purchasing and other administrative functions.
"We are moving to earn the supplier of choice designation from all our
customers," Johnston said.
He also said that 37 percent of $2.6 billion in new business Visteon won
in 2000 came from customers other than Ford Motor Co., from which the supplier
of integrated automotive systems was spun off last June and which remains
Visteon's largest customer.
Visteon Corporation is a leading full-service supplier that delivers
consumer-driven technology solutions to automotive manufacturers worldwide and
through multiple channels within the global automotive aftermarket. Visteon
has a global delivery system of more than 130 technical, manufacturing, sales,
and service facilities located in 23 countries. It has 81,000 employees
working in three business segments: Dynamics and Energy Conversion; Comfort,
Communication and Safety; and Glass.
