Disney Auctions and Porsche Deliver Bruce Willis Fans a Chance to Cruise in Style as They Team Up to Offer the Porsche 911 Used in 'Disney's The Kid'
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. & ATLANTA--Jan. 17, 2001--Online event to coincide with Home Video and
DVD release of "Disney's The Kid"
If you had a chance to meet yourself as an 8-year-old child, would that kid be happy with who you turned out to be? He or she might if you had the opportunity to drive the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet that Russ Duritz (portrayed by Bruce Willis) drove in Disney's The Kid, a movie in which a 40-year-old magically meets himself as an eight-year-old child. Now, movie-lovers will have the opportunity not only to drive, but also to own that car through Disney Auctions (www.disneyauctions.com) presented by eBay and Porsche Cars North America (PCNA).
Beginning Monday, January 22, through Monday, January 29, Disney Auctions will begin accepting bids for the 1999 Porsche(R) 911(TM) Carrera(R) Cabriolet, used in the film Disney's The Kid, as well as several props from the film. As part of the offering, Porsche will provide a certificate for the purchaser to attend the Porsche Driving Experience, a driving program conducted by Porsche at the famed Road Atlanta racecourse near Atlanta, Georgia. In addition, Porsche will pay the purchaser's air fare and provide $2,000 worth of "Tequipment(R)" accessories designed specifically for the 911 and $500 worth of merchandise from Porsche's "Selection" trademark merchandise catalogue. (Specific items to be chosen by PCNA.) The bidding for the package will begin at $65,000. A portion of the proceeds will go to Atlanta Ronald McDonald Houses.
Disney Auctions also will offer several props featured in Disney's The Kid, including:
- | Boxing sparring pads, gloves and headgear worn by Rusty (portrayed by Spencer Breslin) and Kenny (Chi McBride) during a boxing lesson |
- | A vintage-look, 1960s-style Schwinn StingRay bicycle with banana seat, mounted headlamp and chopper handlebars |
- | The satin ring pillow that Rusty, as ring bearer, carries in Kenny and Giselle's (Chi McBride, Susan Dalian) wedding |
- | The flight helmet worn by the pilot of the red biplane featured throughout the movie |
- | A menu from the mysterious Skyway Diner |
- | Two rubber red biplanes used as "stand-ins" for Rusty's original cast-iron model airplane |
- | A package featuring two identical antique cast-iron single-prop airplanes, each with Rusty's name scrawled on the undersides near the folding landing gear, along with a deck of cards with which Rusty and Russ bond over a game of "Go Fish." |
- | Distinctive Persol(TM) sunglasses worn by Russ Duritz (portrayed by Bruce Willis) |
