COMPTON, Calif. and FRANKLIN, Tenn., Jan. 16 Daewoo Motor
America has named PRIMUS Financial Services its "source of choice" and PRIMUS
is already offering special financing programs to Daewoo retail customers.
"With 2000 sales up over 122% from 1999 and a goal of 120,000 sales for
calendar year 2001, joining forces with PRIMUS was a natural progression for
Daewoo," stated D.J. Lee, President and CEO of Daewoo Motor America. Starting
with just 15 company-owned stores less than two years ago, Daewoo has become
"The Fastest Growing Car Company in America."
Daewoo's line up of quality-built, value-priced models includes the sporty
subcompact Lanos, the best-value compact Nubira and the car that defines
affordable luxury, the midsize Leganza. Daewoo now has over 500 retail
dealerships nationwide with continued rapid growth forecasted for 2001.
"PRIMUS field sales people are signing each of the Daewoo dealers," said
John Westphal, PRIMUS director, national accounts. "We're offering a full
array of retail, and wholesale finance products." By aligning with PRIMUS,
Daewoo dealers will be able to offer customers a full range of special
automotive financing services.
PRIMUS president Andy Menzyk emphasized PRIMUS is committed to the
automotive finance business. "The only reason we're in business is to provide
private label financial services to banks, finance companies and our
manufacturer partners and to provide a full range of automotive financing
under the PRIMUS name," Menzyk said. "We are absolutely committed to
developing long-term relationships with our manufacturers and dealers."
"Being a provider of choice provides us a significant competitive
advantage when Daewoo offers special financing programs through us. And we
are set up so we can be the source of choice for a manufacturer almost
overnight," Westphal continued.
Currently celebrating 10 years in the automotive finance business, PRIMUS
Financial Services serves more than one million customers and has nearly
$16 billion in retail, lease and wholesale receivables. PRIMUS is a division
of Ford Motor Credit Company, the world's largest automotive finance company.
