Rusty Wallace "Splash For Kids" Creates A Tidal Wave For The Second Annual Charity Ride
MINNEAPOLIS--Jan. 16, 2001--Watercraft and NASCAR fans, start your engines. The second annual Rusty Wallace "Splash For Kids," a Polaris watercraft charity ride, is revving up to make a big splash on Lake Norman, N.C. NASCAR star Rusty Wallace, along with new additions, Ward Burton, Kyle Petty and John Andretti, will take part in the ride and help raise money for Speedway Children's Charities, an organization that helps kids in need across the U.S.
"Polaris is excited to offer watercraft and NASCAR fans the opportunity to ride with big NASCAR stars like Rusty, Kyle, John and Ward," said Ron Bills, general manager of Polaris watercraft. "It's a great way for people to get out on watercraft and have a good time while raising money for charity."
Rusty Wallace "Splash For Kids" will take place Sunday, May 20, at Ramsey Creek on Lake Norman from 1 to 5 p.m. A gathering will take place after the ride featuring a meet and greet session with the NASCAR drivers, a racing memorabilia auction and barbeque.
Fans can attend the charity ride by selling 10 raffle tickets at $25 a piece for a total of $250. All proceeds will be donated to Speedway Children's Charities and is not tax deductible. Each ticket will be entered into a drawing for an opportunity to win Rusty's custom-painted, autographed watercraft. People can call Speedway Children's Charities at 1-704-455-4396 to register and receive tickets.
"I think it's great that Polaris is holding the charity ride again and I can't wait to get out on my Genesis i and ride around Lake Norman with my NASCAR and watercraft buddies," said Wallace. "We had a great time last year and this year, we're looking forward to getting a lot of people out on the lake, having fun and raising a lot of money."
During the charity ride, Wallace will drive a Polaris Genesis i, autographed and custom-painted. The drawing for the watercraft will be held after the ride on May 20. People can enter the drawing by buying a $25 raffle ticket from a Rusty Wallace "Splash For Kids" participant.
All registered participants will participate in a poker run during the ride for cool prizes and receive a goody bag provided by Polaris. The top three participants who bring in the most money will receive a garage and pit pass for themselves and a guest for the October 7 Winston Cup race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte N.C.
Donations and ticket stubs for the Rusty Wallace "Splash For Kids," must be returned to Speedway Children's Charities Charlotte Chapter by April 30. The $250 is for one rider and one passenger. Participants without watercraft will participate in the charity ride on a passenger boat.
All proceeds from the ride benefit Speedway Children's Charities, a nonprofit foundation that distributes funds to charities providing emotional support, medical and social services to children in need.
