Global Metal Technologies Acquired by Heartland Industrial Partners

    BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., Jan. 16 Heartland Industrial
Partners, L.P. today announced the acquisition of Global Metal Technologies,
Inc. (GMTI) from the Pritzker Family and TMB Industries.  The acquisition was
complete on January 1, 2001.
    GMTI is a major supplier of aluminum die cast components to the automotive
industry with sales in excess of $230 million.  The company is a major
supplier of transmission, engine and chassis components with four die casting
operations, two tool shops and one machining operation.  The company's
technical center, headquartered in Solon, Ohio, designs and builds prototype
components and the tooling utilized in their casting processes.  GMTI is one
of the five largest automotive suppliers utilizing die cast components in
North America.
