Collins & Aikman Names Hoffer Director of Purchasing

    TROY, Mich.--Jan. 16, 2001--Collins & Aikman Corporation today announced the promotion of Franz Hoffer to Director of Purchasing for North American plastics, accessory mats and acoustics operations. In making today's announcement, Joseph P. Robich, Senior Vice President of Global Procurement and Supply Chain Management, stated, "Given Hoffer's extensive background and understanding of the Company's purchasing strategy and goals, I'm confident that his leadership will help continue to standardize and improve our overall effectiveness in the purchasing function."
    As Director of Purchasing, Hoffer will be responsible for overseeing the procurement and supply chain management systems and processes for materials relating to the manufacture of Collins & Aikman's world-class plastics, accessory mat and acoustics products. In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Hoffer will focus on strengthening the Company's supplier business initiatives while identifying and leveraging the Company's global purchasing capabilities. He also will help develop the Company's e-Commerce strategy as the industry moves forward in implementing this technology. Prior to this promotion, Hoffer was Manager of Purchasing for the Company's accessory mat programs. Hoffer joined Collins & Aikman in February 2000, from Valeo Wiper Systems North America, where he was Purchasing Manager. Hoffer, who brings more than 15 years of purchasing experience to the Company, holds a bachelor's of science degree in business management from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., and a master's of science degree in business administration from Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Mich.
