SPX's Dielectric Business Completes Acquisition of Central Tower Companies

    MUSKEGON, Mich., Jan. 16 SPX Corporation today
announced its Dielectric Communications business has completed the acquisition
of Central Tower Inc., and Ryan Construction Inc.
    Central Tower Inc., and Ryan Construction Inc. are multifunctional
providers of communications structures including DTV, broadcasting, two-way
radio, cellular, paging and personal communications services.  The businesses
had combined 1999 revenues of $18 million, and are located in Newburgh,
Indiana.
    Dielectric Communications is the nation's largest manufacturer of high
power TV and FM broadcast antennas, transmission line and RF systems, and a
world leader in broadcast transmission system design.
