WIX Continues as 'Number 1 Filter' in NASCAR
WIX Once Again Selected as Official Filter in Multi-Year Agreement

GASTONIA, N.C., Jan. 16 WIX Filters, a leading
manufacturer and distributor of filtration products, today announced that it
once again has been selected as the Official Filter of the National
Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR).
Through this multi-year licensing agreement, WIX Filters will remain the
number one filter in all 13 of NASCAR's racing series. WIX Filters has been
the Official Filter of NASCAR since 1996.
"Tapping into the power of the NASCAR name and the performance, excitement
and loyalty associated with NASCAR racing are integral parts of our brand
awareness program for WIX Filters," said Bruce R. Johnston, brand manager for
Wix Filtration Products, a division of Dana Corp. . "Being the
number one filter in NASCAR connects with consumers and speaks volumes about
WIX filters' quality and performance."
"WIX Filters has been an outstanding brand for our program since it began
in 1996," said Odis Lloyd, director of NASCAR's Automotive Aftermarket. "WIX
filters are used throughout the NASCAR garage by most of the top racing teams
in our sport. The NASCAR Officially Licensed program allows WIX to
communicate its brand positioning as the filter of choice in NASCAR directly
to consumers."
During the past two racing seasons, 902 of the 1,240 top five finishes in
the Winston Cup, Busch Grand National and Craftsman Truck Series used WIX
filters, including NASCAR Winston Cup Champion Bobby Labonte and the Joe Gibbs
Racing team, for whom WIX Filters has served as an associate sponsor since
1993.
"When 73 percent of the top five finishes over a two-year period use WIX
filters, it becomes a vivid example of why we're the number one filter in
NASCAR," Johnston said.
"WIX Filters has been an outstanding partner for our race team as well as
for NASCAR," said Joe Gibbs Racing team owner Joe Gibbs. "Performance and
reliability are the cornerstones on which you build a championship in our
sport. Those qualities are the cornerstones of the WIX Filters brand as
well."
The NASCAR Officially Licensed automotive aftermarket program was
developed to build brand awareness, preference and sales for the automotive
aftermarket. It is supported by a media effort that includes a weekly
television show, a national radio show, a quarterly magazine and a dedicated
NASCAR Garage section of NASCAR Online. Its Website is http://www.nascar.com .
