ATLANTA--Jan. 16, 2001--ebix.com Inc. , the world's most comprehensive insurance portal, today announced that seven new carriers have signed agreements to provide auto insurance quotes on www.ebix.com. In addition to this group of carriers, six other companies - The Hartford, Electric, Tri-State, Insuranceorder.com, Southern United and IFA Insurance - are presently signed up with ebix.com to provide auto insurance quotes.

ebix.com uses a far more advanced real-time quoting system than most online insurance sites, using XML to connect consumers at the ebix portal directly with each carrier's individual rating engine. As a result, consumers receive much more accurate real-time quotes. Over the next 45 days ebix.com plans to add Amica, Tri-State, Electric, Permanent, Response and Great American Insurance to its list of carriers able to provide real-time quoting.
