Thousand Trails, Inc. Announces Insurance Alliance

DALLAS--Jan. 10, 2001--Thousand Trails, Inc. (AMEX:TRV), one of the nation's largest owners and operators of membership-based campgrounds, today announced it has appointed RV Alliance America ("RVAA") as the exclusive administrator of a program to offer RV specialty and auto insurance to members of Thousand Trails.
Under the program, RVAA will market insurance products to Thousand Trails members, and Thousand Trails will gain access to customers of RVAA who are not Thousand Trails members. In addition, RVAA will advertise in Thousand Trails' member magazine, Trailblazer, and will pay Thousand Trails an administrative fee for its part in administering the program.
"We are pleased that RVAA has agreed to provide this benefit to our members," said Bill Shaw, President and CEO of Thousand Trails. "RVAA is the largest specialty agent for RV insurance. It's appropriate that two of the largest companies serving RV owners could join together in this program."
Under the agreement, RVAA will highlight its relationship with Thousand Trails on its Web site, www.rvaa.com, and in its Inches to Miles newsletter. RVAA will also provide access to its safety-related content for use in Thousand Trails' Web site, www.thousandtrails.com, and its publications. Thousand Trails will highlight the relationship with RVAA on its Web site and provide a unique link to the insurance quote section of RVAA's Web site.
Founded in 1969 to provide a secure, friendly, and affordable camping experience, Thousand Trails today offers a premium outdoors destination to 119,000 members at 63 membership-based camping preserves located in 17 states and British Columbia, Canada. Thousand Trails also provides a reciprocal use program for members of approximately 300 recreational facilities and manages 169 public campgrounds for the US Forest Service.
RVAA created the first true RV insurance policy for the Family Motor Coach Association in 1966. Today, it offers specialized RV policies that go beyond a standard auto policy by including unique RV-related features such as total replacement value, disappearing deductibles, replacement cost on personal contents, campsite liability, and emergency expense coverage. RVAA is a division of Affinity Insurance Services of Washington, a subsidiary of Aon Corporation.
