SMC Corporation Announces Retirement of Chairman of the Board, Chief Executive Officer

    BEND, Ore., Jan. 10 SMC Corporation, , one
of America's best recreational vehicle manufacturers, today announced that due
to personal health issues, Mathew M. Perlot has retired as
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
Mr. Perlot will remain an outside consultant to the company as his services
are required.
    Co-founder of SMC, Curtis W. Lawler, will assume the position of
Chief Executive Officer, while Michael R. Jacque will remain as President and
Chief Operating Officer.
    SMC Corporation is one of the largest high line motor coach manufacturers
in the United States with its headquarters in Bend, Oregon.  The company has
six locations throughout the state of Oregon in addition to its service center
in Florida.
