Smaller "engines" demand not a new concept
SAN JOSE, Calif.--Jan. 9, 2001--A consumer shift to smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles is not a new concept at Normandin Chrysler Jeep, the Santa Clara Valley's oldest transportation dealer."Buyers looking for a smaller engine in response to rising fuel costs aren't inventing new solutions," commented Lon Normandin, chairman of the Board of Normandin Chrysler and great grandson of Amos Normandin, who founded the family's horse-drawn carriage business in 1875.
"I'm sure if I searched the archives from the late 1800s," Lon Normandin reasoned, "whenever there was a shortage of oats, Amos had an increased demand for smaller horses.
