Sharper Image Introduces Hear-It-Again Digital Recording Technology for Cell Phones

    SAN FRANCISCO--Jan. 9, 2001--

Handsfree Car Speakerphone System Allows Drivers To Capture the Prior 20 Seconds of Any Call or Message With the Touch of a Button

Sharper Image Corporation today announced the introduction of its exclusive Car Cell Phone System with Hear-It-Again(TM) Digital Recorder Technology.
The unique system plugs into a vehicle's dashboard power socket and turns a cell phone into a superior quality handsfree car speakerphone. Its most distinctive feature is the patented Hear-It-Again(TM) digital recording technology. Users can instantly store the prior 20 seconds of any conversation or message -- at any point -- just by pressing a button.
Created by Sharper Image Design(TM), the Company's in-house product development team, the Car Cell Phone System with Hear-It-Again(TM) Digital Recorder Technology is available exclusively through The Sharper Image's more than 95 retail stores, the Company's mail-order catalog and its e-commerce Web site, www.sharperimage.com.
Like a cockpit recorder, Sharper Image's Car Cell Phone System continuously records cell phone calls in a 20-second loop; push one of four Hear-It-Again buttons and the current loop is flash-stored in digital memory. Four Hear-It-Again buttons make four distinct 20 second memos. A fifth button is a conventional 30 second forward recorder. All memos are permanent until recorded over.
The Car Cell Phone System has a 2 1/4-inch speaker and an adjustable boom microphone to offer superior sound clarity. When not in use while driving, the System continuously and automatically charges the cell phone's battery.

"The sound quality of our Car Cell Phone System is excellent -- a significant improvement over the other handsfree systems on the market," said Richard Thalheimer, Sharper Image's founder, chairman and chief executive officer. "Plus, our Hear-It-Again(TM) digital recording technology is uniquely convenient. It's perfect when calling in for long-winded messages with an important phone number blurted out at the end," Thalheimer explained. "You don't have to listen over again; just press a button and you've captured the 20 seconds you just heard!
"During 'live' conversations, there's no need to take notes or to ask for key information to be repeated. As before," he concluded, "when you hear something you need to note, simply press a Hear-It-Again button and you've got it!"
The Car Cell Phone System is available in two system models: one for any Nokia model starting with 51 or 61; the other for Motorola Star-TAC.
