Stratasys Profitable for Year 2000, But Short of Expectations

    EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--Jan. 8, 2001--Stratasys, Inc. today announced that it anticipates being profitable for the full year ended December 31, 2000, but will be short of analyst expectations.
    The Company also announced that it ended the fourth quarter with record system order backlog of approximately $7 million and record sales order bookings. Stratasys expects to report fourth quarter revenues of approximately $8.5 million, but anticipates it will not be profitable for the period. The Company will report final year-end financial results at the close of business on February 13th as scheduled.
    The Company also announced that effective January 4, 2001, it has reduced its workforce of employees and contractors by approximately 8 percent. These reductions and a restructuring of the remaining workforce are focused primarily to streamline the Company's engineering and sales groups into a more efficient operation. The Company anticipates a savings of approximately $2 million in operating expenses as a result of this action.
    Stratasys, Inc. is a manufacturer of rapid prototyping systems for automotive, aerospace, industrial, recreation, electronic, medical and consumer products OEM's. The Company's patented Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Genisys rapid prototyping processes create 3-dimensional plastic and wax prototype parts directly from 3-D CAD systems.
