According to Scott Graham, director South American Operations, Delphi
Packard Electric Systems, "Our decision to close the plant was based on the
need to optimize our wiring harness business through the consolidation of our
Betim and Itabirito facilities. The consolidation will result in reduced
costs and greater efficiencies for the division."
"This plant closing does not affect Delphi Packard Electric's long-term
plans, customer support and investments in South America," said Graham.
"Delphi continues to adjust its business to current market demands, which
require companies to be flexible in managing costs and production."
