Code-Alarm Wins CES Innovation Awards for PowerCode Technology(TM) and IT-s(TM) Anti-Theft SensorLAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 Code-Alarm, Inc. announced today that it has won engineering and design awards for two new products, including its recently released PowerElite(TM) 7600 remote vehicle control system. The Madison Heights, Mich.-based manufacturer of vehicle electronics will receive the awards for PowerElite and for its IT-s(TM) interior theft sensor as part of the Innovation 2001 Design and Engineering Showcase, sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA) and the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). The Innovations awards, which were announced today during the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, recognize design, engineering and software excellence in the consumer electronics marketplace. "We are pleased that CEMA and IDSA have recognized the PowerElite 7600 during its first few months on the market," said Peter Stouffer, president and chief operating officer of Code-Alarm. "We developed this product, which is powered by our patented PowerCode Technology(TM), to revolutionize the marketplace and re-energize the category of vehicle safety and convenience for mobile electronics retailers." PowerElite 7600, which was introduced this fall, is Code-Alarm's top-of-the-line remote vehicle control system, which allows customers to utilize today's most popular safety and convenience features, including keyless entry, remote start and complete security. Code-Alarm will demonstrate the versatility and convenience of PowerCode Technology and its PowerElite products at Booth 21143 Gold Lot during CES, which runs Jan 6-9. The product is designed along principles similar to those used by GameBoy(R), the popular hand-held video game. Consumers purchase and have installed a main controller module, then add software feature sets that allow them to upgrade their options quickly and easily. Code-Alarm has developed a proprietary computer language that allows it to bring new feature sets to market in under 60 days -- compared with the typical hardware redesign that takes anywhere from 12 to 18 months. The initial product launch features 10 unique software sets that offer more than 100 features. Code-Alarm was also honored for its Interior Theft Sensor (IT-s), which is marketed under the Chapman brand name. The IT-s serves as a shock sensor, sounding an alarm when a blow to the windows or body panel of the vehicle alerts it. The IT-s, which uses a proprietary refracting infrared (RIR) design, is a low-cost and efficient solution to the lack of content protection found in most vehicles equipped with keyless-entry, anti-theft systems. "Our Innovation award for the IT-s is industry affirmation that our products are on the cutting edge of technology," Stouffer said. "The IT-s offers 'add-on' security to even factory-installed systems to give consumers the most complete content protection available on the market today. "The IT-s and the PowerElite demonstrate the creative potential of Code-Alarm. Our engineers and product developers, working in concert with 12-volt retailers, are able to design and bring to market the solutions that customers need."
