Sensoria Corporation Creates First Compliant IDB-C Network; Demonstrates Open-Standards Networking at 2001 International CESSensoria Corporation Partners With the IDB Forum and Introduces the SDB-C100 Development Kit for IDB-C Networks in Vehicles SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5 Sensoria Corporation, a leader in networked embedded systems, announced today that the company has partnered with the IDB Forum to create the first full data-rate IDB-C network that is compliant with the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J2366 standard. The IDB-C network and Sensoria's SDB-C100 Development Kit will be demonstrated at the IDB Forum Booth at the 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6-9, 2001. AMI-C officials selected Sensoria to develop the SAE J2366 Golden Reference driver implementation for the IDB Forum and AMI-C. This is the first time the full set of IDB-C features has been implemented in a network, supporting the SAE J2366-1, J2366-2, J2366-4, and J2366-7 specifications. During the validation testing, Sensoria configured the industry's first network implementing the highest data rate, message length, and node configurations for IDB-C simultaneously in the same network. A comprehensive report of the validation testing performed on the driver is available. "Open standards are crucial to the success of networking the consumer applications within the vehicle," said Brian Davis, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Sensoria Corporation. "The development cycle for a vehicle is several years compared to less than a year for consumer electronics products. To capture the vast potential for networking electronics within a vehicle, the networking standards must be open allowing the incorporation of electronics into the vehicle at various stages of the design cycle. Sensoria is working closely with the IDB Forum to implement open-standards specifications in a cost effective, robust manner. This will ensure that inter-networking capabilities become a reality for vehicles." Demonstration at 2001 International CES 2001 Sensoria will be demonstrating an IDB-C network based on Sensoria's hardware reference platform at the 2001 International CES. The demonstration will be located in the IDB Forum Booth, #16109, in the Gold Lot (Mobile and Wireless Electronics area) at the Las Vegas Convention Center, January 6-9, 2001. The network will be comprised of multiple SDB-C100 nodes and test software to demonstrate the SAE J2366 functionality. Literature on Sensoria, its SDB-C100 Development Kit, and the IDB Forum will be available at the booth. The IDB-C Network Development Kit The SDB-C100 Development Kit is currently available from Sensoria and includes all the necessary components needed to develop an IDB-C network. The SDB-C100 Development Kit includes: -- IDB-C Hardware Reference Platform -- SDB-C100 User's Manual -- SDB-C100 sample Windows(TM) GUI application -- SDB-C100 interface documentation -- IDB-C network driver source code and documentation -- IDB-C reference software resident in Flash ROM -- Flash loader software to download new software from a PC -- Flash loader documentation -- DB-9 serial cable for RS-232 connection -- DB-25 cable for IDB-C connection -- IDB-C termination resistor plug -- AC Adapter and connector, 3-node capacity Sensoria is taking orders for the SDB-C100 Development Kits at a price of $599.00 each. Delivery is four weeks after receipt of order. About AMI-C and the IDB Forum The Automotive Multimedia Interface Collaboration (AMI-C) recently became a corporation and is made up of the major automotive manufacturers, electronics companies and OEM suppliers who are working together to establish networking standards for electronic devices and embedded intelligent systems in vehicles. These standards will allow cellular phones, personal digital assistants, compact disc changers, and other electronic devices to work interchangeably among vehicle types. The objective of the IDB Forum is to become the primary source of standards for IDB networking and inter-networking technology for AMI-C. The IDB Forum focuses on reviewing and commenting on specifications, offering training programs, providing certification, promoting awareness of the IDB and the various standards, and establishing Special Interest Groups. As a member of the IDB Forum, Sensoria supports their efforts by implementing these open-standards, including the SDB-C100 Development Kit. IDB-C is the first of a family of in-vehicle networks and is expected to be deployed in some model year 2002 vehicles. IDB-C is defined in the SAE J2366 - ITS Data Bus series of specifications which were ratified in November 2000.
