Satronics Inks Deal With TelEvoke to Deliver Automated In-Vehicle Telematics for 'Carlink' Security Products

    VENTURA, Calif.--Jan. 5, 2001--

Consumers Can Now be Automatically Notified Via Telephone, Pager, Email or Internet of Vehicle Location and Other Data

Satronics Corporation, a leader in design and manufacturing of wireless data products, announced today that TelEvoke, Inc. will be the application service provider for Satronics patented in-vehicle telematics products for the automotive aftermarket.
The new Satronics product called "CarLink" is expected to be introduced at the 2001 "Consumer Electronics Show" in Las Vegas by two high profile vehicle security manufacturers. Offered in conjunction with their next generation vehicle alarm systems, "CarLink" will provide consumers with a suite of safety and security services. Satronics and TelEvoke are the first companies to marry technologies that gather wireless location and other types of data and automatically notify consumers via telephone, pager, email or the Internet.
"Our partnership with TelEvoke has enabled us to deliver a powerful offering at record speed," noted Satronics President and CEO, James Jeffries. "Satronics will now be able to provide its OEM partners with a single source for cost effective telematics solutions which include GPS location technology, roadside assistance, collision notification, E911 services, as well as mobile asset tracking and remote door unlocking."
"TelEvoke had the notification, tracking, and control functions via the web and phone that we were looking for in an (ASP) system," added Vince Arnold, Vice President-Automotive Division for Satronics. "Our ability to private brand their web-interface was key in our decision to work with TelEvoke, as it allows us to continue to work directly with our customers -- and distribution partners worldwide."

    How "CarLink" Works

Satronics will sell their patented hardware that includes a Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular radio modem that will connect with the partners' alarm systems. The module is installed in the vehicle where it is not accessible, and the customer will determine how they want to be notified if their car is stolen. In the event that the vehicle shows unauthorized movement while in the armed mode, the unit will send specific data with GPS location parameters, over the Aeris.net MicroBurst(R) cellular network, to the TelEvoke Network Operations Center (NOC).
The NOC will in turn use this data to notify the vehicle's owner via phone, email, or pager as previously prescribed by customer, informing them that their car alarm has been triggered and shows unauthorized movement. Once the customer has verified their car is stolen, they can select a "vehicle theft" command on the phone or web that will disable the engine when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. The consumer can then transfer the call to the "CarLink" call center that will monitor and track the vehicle and contact the appropriate police authority to aid in the recovery process.
Rick Bentley, CEO of TelEvoke, agreed that this is an ideal partnership. "Satronics is able to package the right hardware, and customer service system, with the 'powered by TelEvoke' back-end services to provide a complete solution to their partner distributors. They provide a excellent single source solution for the automotive security industry."
