Stanley Tools Names New Presidents

Stanley Names Tom Franks President of Worldwide Mechanics Tools and Arnaud de Weert President of Stanley EuropeNEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Stanley Works announced the appointment of Thomas L. Franks, 60, as President, Stanley Mechanics Tools worldwide, including the company's ZAG and Storage operations. The company also announced the appointment of Arnaud de Weert, 37, as President, Stanley Europe. Both appointments are effective immediately. Franks comes to Stanley following a 42-year career at General Electric, where he was most recently General Manager of GE Drives and Control Systems, a $400 million business. In his two years there, the business increased sales by $70 million, earnings by $52 million and cash flows by $59 million. Previously Mr. Franks was responsible for technology, competitiveness and global parts operation at GE Medical Systems. "We are very excited that Tom Franks is joining our team at this time," said John M. Trani, Stanley Chairman and CEO. "His deep operations background and broad experience base give him a tremendous ability to satisfy customers and deliver bottom line results." De Weert spent eight years at General Electric in Europe. Most recently he was Sales & Marketing Director, Europe, for GE Power Controls, one of GE's more difficult businesses. Previously Mr. de Weert held positions of increasing responsibility in finance, logistics, customer service and sales. Mr. Trani added: "Arnaud de Weert has demonstrated strong abilities in sales force organization and driving for results. This has enabled him to lead businesses that deliver outstanding customer service and strong sales growth. In the five-years Arnaud led GE Power Controls, that business consistently delivered double-digit percentage sales growth."
