Fleetwood Announces Implementation of Management Succession Plan
    RIVERSIDE, Calif., Jan. 4 Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc.
announced today that as part of the Company's management
succession plan, effective April 30, 2001, Glenn F. Kummer, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, will transfer his CEO title and responsibilities to
Nelson W. Potter, who is currently President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Kummer will continue in his position as Chairman of Fleetwood's Board of
Directors.
    Mr. Kummer has been Chairman and CEO since January 1998.  Prior to that he
served as President and Chief Operating Officer for 16 years.  Mr. Kummer has
been a member of the Board of Directors since March 1983.  He has been very
active in industry trade associations and will continue his involvement as the
Company's principal representative to those groups.
    In November 2000, Mr. Kummer celebrated his 35th anniversary with
Fleetwood, having been promoted to increasingly responsible positions since
joining the Company in 1965 in a management training program.  Prior to his
career at Fleetwood, Mr. Kummer was with the international public accounting
firm of Ernst and Ernst, the predecessor of today's Ernst and Young.
    In announcing Mr. Potter's appointment to the position of Chief Executive
Officer in addition to his role as President, Mr. Kummer stated, "Nelson is a
seasoned Fleetwood executive who brings strong financial and operational
leadership skills to the position.  I look forward to his expanded role at the
helm of the Company, and to continuing to work with him on the Board of
Directors."
    Mr. Potter, who has a Master of Business Administration degree from the
Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Finance
from American University, has 25 years experience with the Company.  He became
President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of Fleetwood's Board of
Directors in January 1998, after serving as Executive Vice President
-- Operations from January 1997 to January 1998.  He has also held various
other positions at Fleetwood including General Manager of a manufacturing
facility, Director of International Housing and Vice President-Planning &
Corporate Development.  Prior to joining Fleetwood he was an officer with
Kidder, Peabody & Company in New York serving as a securities analyst.
    Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Potter stated, "I look forward to the
additional challenges of this position, and particularly to the exciting
future ahead for Fleetwood.  I expect to continue to build upon the visionary
foundation established by Glenn.  His leadership has brought Fleetwood to the
forefront of both of our industries -- manufactured housing and recreational
vehicles -- and his continued participation on the Board will provide our
management team with the benefit of his wisdom and experience as we move
forward."
    Fleetwood is the nation's largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles
and a leading producer and retailer of manufactured housing.
