REMtech Corp. Rings in New Year as Sumida America Corporation
   Sumida to Consolidate All Sales, Customer Service and Processes in North
                                   America

    ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill., Jan. 4 REMtech Corporation, a
driving force in the fields of advanced magnetics, reed relays, surge
arresters, automotive coils and other electronic components, today announced
that, effective Jan. 1, 2001, all North American operations of parent company
Sumida Corporation, Tokyo, have been reorganized under the name Sumida America
Corporation.  Sumida Corp. is a leading manufacturer of electronic components
for the automotive, computer and telecommunications industries.
    Under this new organization, Sumida America will be composed of three
companies:  Sumida America Manufacturing, Sumida America Sales and Sumida
America Technologies.  Harsh Koppula, president and CEO of REMtech, will serve
as president and CEO of Sumida America and will be responsible for all three
entities.
    "This is a very positive change for us," said Koppula.  "We will now be
more closely tied to Sumida, one of the largest designers and manufacturers of
coil wound products in the world.  Operating as Sumida America will allow us
to better achieve our objective of growing market share and creating new
products and solutions for our customers, whether their applications are in
power, telecommunications or automotive electronics."
    Additionally, REMtech's relay and surge arrester products will continue to
be branded "REMtech" and all coil products will be branded "Sumida."
    The consolidation of sales channels, customer service, systems and
processes under Sumida America will benefit customers by providing all of the
coil wound product requirements of both Sumida and REMtech through one
company, one channel, and in a process that is easy to do business with.
    According to Koppula, Sumida will also be consolidating its operations in
Europe under one company, called Sumida Europe N.V., at a later date in 2001.
    Sumida America Corporation, Rolling Meadows, Ill., is responsible for the
marketing and sale of Sumida's magnetics, gas discharge tube surge arrester,
and relay products for the power, telecommunications, and automotive markets
in North America.  The company has two manufacturing facilities in
Guadalajara, Mexico.
