Visteon Corporation will be showcasing nine innovative technologies that are seamlessly integrated into one demonstration vehicle at the 2001 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20001201/DEF008LOGO ) "This car demonstrates Visteon's unique ability to develop, design and integrate several technologies of tomorrow into one vehicle today," said Michael Johnston, President and Chief Operating Officer of Visteon Corporation. "We are excited to have these nine, leading-edge technologies working together on one vehicle." Visteon's safety and security systems are designed to provide consumers with peace of mind throughout the driving experience. Some of the products integrated into the demonstration vehicle include: * Dynamic Seat System connects the seat bolsters to the chassis sensors so that when vehicle inertia causes an occupant to move, the bolsters continue to hold him or her securely in place. In case of an accident, the system helps ensure that the occupant will be properly aligned with the airbag upon deployment. * Deformation Sensing provides faster and more reliable air bag deployment by using strategically placed sensors that identify the extent and severity of a crash impact. * Biometrics or fingerprint identification provides personalized levels of access to a vehicle, including: starting the vehicle, accessing compartments inside the vehicle, or locking and unlocking the doors and trunk. High Intensity Discharge (HID) Lighting uses a Xenon gas light source, and a ballast for each lamp to better illuminate the road, for better vision in all- weather driving. * Visteon Voice Technology(TM) allows drivers to operate various vehicle features including climate control, windows, telephone, navigation systems and much more, while keeping eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. * Hands-Free Entry System is a Customer Identification Device (CID) that locks or unlocks the doors and trunk, recalls seat and mirror positions, and sounds a panic alarm. The device can be in a key fob, integrated into the head of a key, or encoded onto a plastic card, watch or other preferred device. Visteon also has developed innovative technologies that keep drivers and passengers conveniently connected to the world around them, entertained, and comfortable, while on the road. The Visteon demonstration vehicle also features a number of comfort and convenience technologies, including: * DVD Rear Seat Entertainment provides rear seat passengers with the latest in entertainment technology. Passengers can watch movies, play video games or listen to CDs. This new system features a fold-down screen, wireless headphones and infrared remote control. * ICES (Information, Communication, Entertainment, Safety and Security) system provides an interactive link between home, office, and vehicle. ICES enables vehicle occupants to access the Internet, check e-mail, and obtain real-time information such as news, weather reports and stock quotes. ICES may be conveniently activated by using Visteon Voice Technology(TM). * Light Emitting Diode (LED) Indirect Reflector Lighting technology is uniquely designed to consume only a fraction of the power of traditional incandescent lamps, while offering extreme flexibility, thin packaging and high-tech styling.
