Saab Announces Best December Ever -- Sales up 29 Percent
      *  Saab 9-5 Sales up 35 Percent vs. December 1999 -- Best December Ever
      *  Saab 9-3 Sales up 22 Percent vs. December 1999
      *  2000 Year-End Sales of 39,479 Equal to 1999 Sales

    NORCROSS, Ga., Jan. 3 Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S.
importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of
3,753 cars during December 2000 -- a 29 percent increase over December 1999
(2,920 cars) and its best December ever.
    Saab sold 1,810 Saab 9-3 models in December, a 22 percent increase over
the same period last year. This number includes sales of 492 Saab 9-3
Convertible models, capping one of Saab's best years of convertible sales
ever.
    In the Saab 9-5 model range, the sedan model was up 36 percent over
December 1999 sales (1,426 units vs. 1,052) and the wagon's sales increased
35 percent over December 1999 (517 vs. 382).  For calendar year 2000, the Saab
9-5 Wagon surpassed the company's annual sales forecast with a total of
5,879 9-5 Wagons sold.  This is Saab's best December ever for its large car
platform.
    "We are very proud of our retail network for achieving these December
sales results," said Dan Chasins, Saab Cars USA, Inc. President and COO.
"Their hard work all year helped us virtually match the high sales increase we
achieved in 1999."
    Saab's total sales for 2000 were 39,479 cars, nearly equal to 1999's sales
of 39,541.
