Nissan Division Posts 11 Percent Sales Increase for 2000; Truck Sales Post a Record YearCARSON, Calif., Jan. 3 Bolstered by strong truck sales, the Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) posted 2000 calendar year sales of 673,737 vehicles, an 11.4 percent increase versus calendar year 1999. Nissan Division reported sales of 50,620 units for the month of December. Combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti divisions for the calendar year totaled 752,088 units, up 11.1 percent versus last year. Here are highlights of December and year-end sales: -- Total truck sales for all of 2000 were up 21.3 percent versus 1999 with sales of 308,649, the best calendar year in Nissan's U.S. history -- Frontier sales for the year improved by 12.9 percent over 1999. -- The all-new Sentra reported sales of 9,208 units in December and 98,803 for the full year, a 56.5 percent increase over 1999 sales. -- Maxima sales for December were 8,221 units. -- Xterra posted December sales of 6,568 units and 88,578 units for the calendar year, up 85.3 percent over 1999 sales. -- The Pathfinder followed with 5,748 units sold for December. -- Nissan Quest sales totaled 2,106 units in December. -- Altima reported sales of 9,933 units in December. Calendar year 2000 has been filled with changes for Nissan, including the launch of a series of exciting new products, increased sales in the United States and a return to significant worldwide profitability under the Nissan Revival Plan. Nissan's U.S. sales momentum has been fueled by strong consumer interest in Nissan's product offerings such as the all-new Sentra, redesigned Frontier and the popular Xterra sport-utility vehicle. "2000 has been an exciting year for Nissan," said Bill Kirrane, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division. "We are very enthusiastic and confident with all the new models in our pipeline." Combined sales for Nissan and Infiniti divisions for December totaled 55,552 units. Sales of Nissan Division's North American-produced vehicles totaled 36,621 units for December, which accounted for 72.3 percent of Nissan's total sales volume. Note: All numbers include Hawaii.
