Gentex Ships Automatic-Dimming Mirrors For Maxima and Infiniti I30

3 January 2001

Gentex Begins Shipping Automatic-Dimming Mirrors For Nissan(R) Maxima(R) and Infiniti(R) I30(R)
ZEELAND, Mich., Jan. 3 Gentex Corporation ,
the Zeeland, Michigan-based manufacturer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors
and commercial fire protection products, has begun shipping interior
automatic-dimming mirrors for the 2001 Nissan(R) Maxima(R) and
Infiniti(R) I30(R).
Gentex's Night Vision Safety(TM) (NVS(R)) Mirrors automatically darken to
reduce glare from the headlamps of vehicles approaching from the rear. The
brighter the glare, the darker the mirrors become, making nighttime driving
safer.
Gentex is shipping a base automatic-dimming mirror for the Nissan(R)
Maxima(R), which is standard on the GLE and 20th Anniversary models, and in a
popular comfort and convenience package on the GXE and SE models. Standard on
the Infiniti(R) I30(R) is a Gentex automatic-dimming mirror with a built-in
electronic compass display that utilizes Johnson Controls' PathPoint(R)
Digital Compass System, the industry's best-selling and most accurate compass
technology.
"It's great to see our mirrors going on these two top-selling cars," said
Ken La Grand, Gentex executive vice president. "Our sales to automotive
manufacturers in Asia represent the fastest-growing segment of our business,
and these new programs typify that growth."
