UK Car Output to Drop to 1 Million Thanks to the Euro Says just-auto.com editor

    LONDON, Jan. 2 http://www.just-auto.com - The outlook is
bleak for the UK car industry.  Two major plant closures at Dagenham (Ford)
and Luton (GM) have left the industry fragile.
    In his weekly personal comment at

editor David Leggett believes that the UK is being shunned as a manufacturing
location in favour of the cheaper eurozone currency area.
    "Ford planners may be looking at the UK being inside the eurozone within
five years, but five years is a long way away.  Losses cannot be incurred for
long.  With prices slumping and margins under attack, action has to be taken
quickly," says Leggett.
