Wind River Unveils MATRIXx 7.0 for Increased Efficiency in Automotive and Aerospace Control Software Design
ALAMEDA, Calif.--Dec. 27, 2000--Wind River Systems, Inc. today announced general availability of its MATRIXx(R) 7.0 software product line which allows automotive and aerospace control systems design engineers to accelerate and manage their control software design and development cycles. The new MATRIXx 7.0 interactive design tool suite provides Wind River customers with an end-to-end embedded software development solution for a wide array of embedded control system applications from automotive chassis, powertrain and ABS embedded control units, to aerospace flight and environmental controllers.
Wind River's MATRIXx product family helps address increased complexity in designing embedded control systems by adding new design constructs through its SystemBuild Statechart module, along with new engineering teamwork capabilities through its Configuration Management module. Other important enhancements are in the area of graphical design readability and production code generation, now with VxWorks(R) RTOS code generation support and more efficient fixed point libraries, reducing errors in the design process, increasing code efficiency, and speeding Wind River customers' time-to-market.
According to the report "Embedded Software Development Tools: More Changes on the Horizon" by Dataquest's Daya Nadamuni, "As designs become more and more complex, design methodologies are moving toward the adoption of a flow that facilitates system level design and integration ... The use of system-level tools is most popular in industries where designs and devices have a high degree of complexity such as the telecommunications and the automotive markets."
"The demands on automotive and aerospace design engineers to produce increasingly complex and efficient control software has only become more difficult with the continued shortening of development cycles," said Scot Morrison, vice president and general manager of Wind River's Automotive and Industrial business unit. "MATRIXx 7.0 allows our customers to not only be innovative in managing control software design, but also get to market with more efficient code in record time."
