Cigarette Purchases More Torque V-12 Engines for Their Los Angeles Boat Show 46' Cigarette 'Rough Rider'
ELKHART, Ind., Dec. 21 Torque Engineering Corporation's
(OTC Bulletin Board: TORQ) President, Ray Wedel, is pleased to announce that
Cigarette Racing Team, Inc., Aventura, Florida, manufacturer of the legendary
"Cigarette Powerboats" has purchased another pair of TORQUE V-12 Engines to
power a 46' "Rough Rider" to be displayed at the Los Angeles Boat Show in
February by dealer Dick Simon Marine located in Dana Point, California.
The "Rough Rider" is a newly designed and developed 46' pleasure
Vee-Bottom formatted on world-class technology. The deck design is classic
Cigarette and the hull sports a triple step ventilated performance Vee-Bottom.
Cigarette dealer Dick Simon, famed Indy Car team owner, stated, "The
Torque V-12's are the way of the future. There is no substitute for cubic
inches or the smoothness of a V-12. Two of these engines can replace
complicated 3 or 4 engine installations. Our 46' Los Angeles Boat Show
Cigarette is expected to out perform the first 46' triple step hull Cigarette
built in November with Triple Supercharged MerCruiser engines".
Simon went on to say, "The big advantage with the Torque V-12's is that
you don't need bolt on power boosters such as superchargers or turbochargers.
These engines are naturally aspirated with advanced digital engine management
systems onboard, like Indy cars, to deliver drivability and excellent fuel
economy on pump gasoline. What is unbelievable is that these engines are 860
cubic inches with a closed cooling system and they are approximately the same
weight as a Big Block V-8 blower engine. With the Torque V-12's lower profile
and side-by-side installation, our Cigarette Rough Rider will sport a gracious
sun deck and a full pleasure cockpit. Be sure to visit us at the Los Angeles
Show the second week of February."
"What an exciting new engine platform to build around", said Neill
Hernandez, Vice-President of Manufacturing for Cigarette. "The word is
certainly spreading about the new Torque V-12 engines. As soon as we started
the first 46' Rough Rider into production with the V-12's, we began receiving
commitments from other dealers to be put on the waiting list. We are happy to
have found BIG PLEASURE POWER equal to our #1 legendary Cigarette QUALITY".
Ray Wedel, Torque's president stated, "Cigarette is the Founding Benchmark
of the high performance powerboat industry. Our power and reliability goes
hand in hand with Cigarette's world proven endurance".
Torque Engineering manufactures three models of a new lightweight,
aluminum, 14 liter (860 cubic inches) V-12 engines for the marine pleasure
boating industry. All models are naturally aspirated with advanced electronic
digital engine management systems, developing 900 to 1150 horsepower and
1050 to 1150 foot pounds of torque. The Torque V-12's produce the highest
known power for a production engine utilizing pump gasoline.
