Oshkosh Truck Resumes Full Operations After One-Day Closing For Chemical Fire at Unrelated Location in City of Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis.--Dec. 20, 2000--Oshkosh Truck Corporation (NASDAQ - OTRKB) announced this morning that it has resumed full operations following the cancellation of all shifts at all production facilities in Oshkosh, Wis. on Monday, December 18, and the cancellation of first shift production at one facility on Tuesday, December 19. The company was forced to suspend those operations due to an emergency evacuation of the southeast side of the city of Oshkosh. The evacuation was ordered by Oshkosh Emergency Services as a consequence of a sodium hydrosulfite chemical fire, which impacted air quality and safety in the area. The fire was in a railroad box car at a location unrelated to the company's production facilities but in close proximity.
"Oshkosh Truck management expects to make up all lost production time before the end of December 2000. Management expects to meet all customer shipments scheduled for December," said Robert G. Bohn, Chairman, President and CEO.
