(PRNewsFoto)[AG] TROY, MI USA 10/19/2000TROY, Mich., Dec. 19 Delphi Automotive Systems' Chairman, CEO and President, J.T. Battenberg III, presented a check for over $1.1 million to Trevor Jones, chairman emeritus of the Convergence Transportation Electronics Association (CTEA), this afternoon at Delphi's world headquarters in Troy, Mich. The money represents the proceeds raised at the Delphi-sponsored Convergence 2000 Automotive Electronics Conference for the Convergence Education Foundation (CEF). Since its inception in 1994, the CEF has awarded $1 million in grants to elementary, junior high and high schools in Michigan and Ohio. The grants are given to support educational programs to increase the number of students who choose science or mathematics as a lifelong career. This year's gift will nearly triple the combined proceeds from the previous three conferences. Convergence 2000 boasted a record 176 state-of-the-art exhibits, over 10,000 participants, and nearly 240 journalists, and was held Oct. 16-18, 2000, in Detroit's Cobo Center.
