Lear Announces the Impact of Recent North American Production Cuts
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 19 Lear Corporation ,
today reported that the recently announced fourth-quarter North American light
vehicle production cuts will impact the company's fourth-quarter earnings.
    The previously announced production cuts are expected to reduce fully
diluted recurring earnings to approximately $1.35 per share for the fourth
quarter and approximately $4.20 per share for the full year 2000.  In 1999,
the company reported fully diluted recurring earnings per share of $1.36 for
the fourth quarter and $3.76 per share for the full year.  These expected
results are in line with current First Call/Thomson Financial consensus
estimates for both the fourth-quarter and full year 2000.
