Olds Shuttered, GM Gets New CFO - A Special Report Today on TheCarConnection.com.
DETROIT, Dec. 18 Pre-holiday celebrations are muted inside
the walls of the Renaissance Center today. GM shut down Oldsmobile last week,
and also announced that it would cut staff in both North America and Europe.
You can pay your respects to Oldsmobile as staff pundits check in on why Olds
died, and find out how GM's new CFO, former Ford Wall Street whiz John Devine,
plans to run his realm this morning at TheCarConnection.com, the Web's
automotive authority.
Elsewhere in this week's issue, TCC takes a look at teen driving. Today's
teen drivers face more risks than ever -- risks that are forcing states to
look at new ways of licensing and teaching them how to drive. What do you
need to know to parent a teen driver? TCC has it in a special feature this
week, and has tips on teaching teens proper driving safety.
Is the government about to crack down on lemon-law cars resold to the
public? That's what consumer groups are hoping. TCC will tell you how those
groups propose to inform every buyer whether their next used car is a lemon.
TheCarConnection.com also looks at the Toyota plant in Georgetown,
Kentucky, that's widely considered the best plant in America.
In this week's reviews, TCC looks at the 2001 Volkswagen Passat Wagon with
4Motion all-wheel drive, goes for a fast spin in the Audi S4 2.7T Avant, and
captures spy shots of the next-generation Porsche 911 Targa.
