Mazda to Enhance Dynamic Web User Experience by Bringing More Accurate and Timely Content Online with Interwoven TeamSite
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Dec. 18, 2000--Interwoven, Inc. , the leading provider of enterprise-class content management software, today announced that Mazda USA's Web site will be powered by TeamSite 4.5 software for their North American operations. Mazda will be using Interwoven software to streamline Web development, management and deployment across its consumer (www.MazdaUSA.com) division, which in turn will help Mazda enhance its Web accuracy and timeliness.
"In order to maintain MazdaUSA.com as a rich and interactive site, it was critical for Mazda to turn to the most robust content management package available," said Charles Simmons, CIO at Mazda. "Interwoven TeamSite will allow us to empower a broad contributor base using workflow for collaboration and approval thus improving content timeliness and accuracy."
MazdaUSA.com offers visitors an interactive and dynamic user experience through its dealer locator, "build your own Mazda" and "MazdaTown" (driving, vehicle maintenance, lifestyle information, and interactive features personalized exclusively for Mazda owners) Web applications. The continued success of Mazda's online applications will depend largely on the continued creation of dynamic, rich content.
With TeamSite in place, Mazda will empower non-technical content contributors from throughout the company to contribute to the Web, with a minimal amount of training while maintaining process controls. This will lighten the workload for the Web team while decreasing time-to-Web for all content including text, graphics, multimedia and application code. This is possible because XML-based TeamSite Templating separates content from the way it is presented, enabling contributors to focus on the value of the content rather than its structure.
TeamSite virtualization, a capability that allows all contributors to work within their own private "virtual" version of the entire Web site, will allow Mazda's contributors to QA their own work in context relative to the actual site. Mazda's business units will then be able to reduce the time involved in contributing content without sacrificing the integrity of standard navigation, look, feel and brand images. Interwoven's unique virtualization capabilities, along with its configurable workflow and ease-of-use, were key differentiators for Mazda between TeamSite and other solutions.
Mazda was also impressed with Open Deploy, Interwoven's content replication software for the Web. Mazda will use OpenDeploy to provide a secure, flexible and scalable solution for cross-platform, transactional content transfer to numerous production servers. OpenDeploy will speed deployment for the Mazda site by allowing frequent, automated posting of content with a high degree of reliability. The combination of TeamSite and OpenDeploy provides a Web content architecture that creates and maintains a dynamic Web experience while leveraging the existing technology base and incorporating all Web assets and creating an inclusive development environment.
TeamSite's open architecture allows Mazda to integrate easily with its existing application servers, IBM's WebSphere and Microsoft Internet Information Services.
