ArvinMeritor Develops Online Supplier Diversity Exchange Program
TROY, Mich., Dec. 15 As part of an ongoing commitment to
increase business with minority-owned suppliers in the automotive industry,
ArvinMeritor, Inc. has developed a unique online exchange programs
to monitor and document minority supplier use. The Supplier Diversity
Exchange initiative allows suppliers to efficiently report their purchases
with minority suppliers in an online environment with greater efficiency and
cost-effectiveness.
"Supplier Diversity Exchange enables our suppliers to securely log in and
accurately track purchases they have made with minority suppliers," said Jeff
Stoner, vice president, Procurement, ArvinMeritor. "The new online exchange
is part of our supplier Web site, which continues to expand our use of the
Internet to create a world-class global supply chain."
The site can be accessed at http://supplier.arvinmeritor.com and is part
of the ArvinMeritor Supplier Network (ASN). The link also provides a demo of
the entire site. ASN is designed to empower suppliers to conduct more
business online and to take advantage of the efficiencies it brings as a
result. Stoner noted the development of ASN as just one example of e-business
synergies resulting from the recent merger of Arvin Industries and Meritor
Automotive.
"The Internet is changing the way all companies do business," Stoner said.
"In addition to the ArvinMeritor Supply Network, the ArvinMeritor merger has
promoted sharing of other on-line best practices across the new companies. A
great example is our Web-based global procurement data warehouse and the
strategic use of on-line reverse auctions."
Stoner said the Supplier Diversity Exchange would support ArvinMeritor's
overall commitment to diversity and enhancing the company's support of OEM
customer diversity objectives.
