Traffic.com Appoints New Director of Infrastructure Planning; In Preparation for National Rollout of TrafficPulse Digital Sensor Network
WAYNE, Pa.--Dec. 15, 2000--Traffic.com, the world's leading provider of digital traffic and logistics information, announced today the appointment of Karen M. Jehanian as Director, Infrastructure Planning.Ms. Jehanian will be responsible for planning the national deployment of the company's TrafficPulse(SM) digital sensor network, including specific roadways coverage, digital sensor locations and related engineering decisions. Additionally, she will be a key liaison with key transportation agency partners, regional transportation authorities and private contractors and stakeholders.

Ms. Jehanian has spent nearly 20 years in the transportation and management fields. She had leadership roles in several major highway and ITS projects including ATMS, ATIS projects related to I-95, the Blue Route and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. She also lead a major market research effort for the I-95 Corridor Coalition.
A registered Professional Engineer, she was most recently President of KMJ Consulting in Haverford, PA, where she focused on transportation engineering and planning. Prior to that she was Vice President and Manager for the Traffic Engineering & Intelligent Transportation Group, Urban Engineers, Inc. in Philadelphia.
Among the extensive publications authored or co-authored by Ms. Jehanian are "An Evaluation of Philadelphia's Satellite Communications Demonstration Project - The Mobile Platform," presented at the ITE 68th Annual Meeting, August 1998, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and published in the proceedings; "ATIS Users' Needs in the I-95 Northeast Corridor," TRB Research Record 1537, Washington, D.C, 1996; "Video Image Processing - A Technology Evolution for Freeway Applications" presented at the Annual ITS World Congress in Toronto, Canada in November 1999; and "Balancing Mobility Needs and Community Issues Using Traffic Calming Techniques" presented at the ITE 70th annual meeting in August 2000.
Ms. Jehanian holds MBA and BSCE degrees from Drexel University and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers and American Society of Highway Engineers. She is also an active member of the ITS America ATIS Committee and serves as its vice chair.
