Tathacus Resources Ltd. - Xogen Hydrogen Technology to be tested by the Alberta Research Council
CALGARY, Alberta--(Automotive Wire)--Dec. 14, 2000--Tathacus Resources (CDNX:TTC.) today announced that it has contracted the Alberta Research Council (ARC) to conduct independent tests on Xogen Power's patented hydrogen generation technology. The testing will be conducted on behalf of Tathacus. Tathacus holds a 20% stake in Xogen.
Using rechargeable 24-volt power and ordinary tap water, the Xogen technology produces clean burning hydrogen gas. The ability to operate at this voltage is among the technology's most significant breakthroughs. It means that clean burning hydrogen fuel can be produced using clean energy sources such as solar and wind power.
"Xogen's ability to release commercial volumes of hydrogen using tap water and low voltage means that the inputs are essentially free," said Barrie Shibley, president of Tathacus. "By producing hydrogen at low voltage for fuel and other applications, Xogen's technology also avoids the environmental and economic costs associated with producing hydrogen using existing high voltage, grid-supplied electricity."
"Tathacus and Xogen have a completely new technology. Given the many uses for hydrogen, its commercialization will be achieved through key strategic alliances with leaders in each sector," added Shibley.
ARC will conduct a number of tests on Xogen's hydrogen generation technology including measuring the volume of the hydrogen and oxygen gas mixture produced using a specific amount of electrical energy. The testing is expected to be completed in January 2001.
