William E. Baker Appointed Vice President, Corporate Communications For Land Rover North America, Inc.LANHAM, Md., Dec. 13 Land Rover North America, Inc. has announced the appointment of William E. Baker as Vice President, Corporate Communications. He will report to President and CEO Howard I. Mosher and will serve on the company's Executive Committee. Mr. Baker, 56, rejoins Land Rover North America after a four-year assignment in the United Kingdom, where he had been Director, Land Rover Communications Programs since 1997. In that position, he supported the worldwide launch of Land Rover's Freelander and Discovery Series II models and coordinated Land Rover's 50th Anniversary activities. In his new role, Mr. Baker oversees all news media relations and external public affairs activities. He will also be responsible for expanding the Land Rover Experience off-road driving schools program. Mr. Baker was part of the original executive team that created Range Rover of North America, Inc. (later named Land Rover North America, Inc.) in 1986. He served as the company's Vice President, Corporate Communications from 1987 to 1997. "Bill's experience will be invaluable as we expand our presence here with the addition of Freelander and other new products," said Howard Mosher, president and CEO of Land Rover North America. "His expeditions with the press have taken him all over the world, giving him unmatched insights into Land Rover's brand and heritage." A 27-year veteran of the automotive industry, Mr. Baker has held public relations positions for several domestic and European manufacturers including Ford and Volvo-companies which, along with Land Rover, are now part of Ford Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group. He was originally a broadcast journalist based in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Baker and his wife Marylynn will live in Annapolis, Md. He is a member of The Explorer's Club, the Annapolis Yacht Club and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, London.
