CSX Transportation Attracts Over $87 Million In Industrial Development To Ohio Through November
Plant To Service General Motors In Dayton Adds
To Rail Spurred Growth During 2000

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Dec. 13 CSX Transportation Inc.
(CSXT) today announced that in November it partnered with the Ohio industrial
development community to establish an automotive/truck parts cross-docking
operation in Dayton for the General Motors plant in Moraine. Jamestown
Moraine, Inc., a 72,000-square-foot leased facility, will create 12 new jobs
and an investment of $500,000. Since January 17 CSXT-supported industrial
projects have helped create 356 new jobs and over $87 million in new
investment in Ohio, nearly double comparable totals for the same period in
1999.
CSXT, one of America's leading railroads, works closely with Ohio state
and local economic development authorities to locate new facilities and plant
expansions along its tracks. Ohio's prime location as a production and
transportation hub, teamed with CSXT industrial development expertise, creates
ample opportunity for industrial and economic development success.
In the last six years, CSXT has helped to create more than 2,000 new jobs
in Ohio and generate nearly $600 million in capital investments.
"CSXT is committed to industrial development, working together with local
business and communities to create jobs and produce economic growth," said
David Hemphill, CSXT assistant vice president for industrial and economic
development. "We are proud of our performance this year, which should be an
all time record for development. And, we look forward to new opportunities
for investment in 2001."
"CSXT's acquisition of its portion of Conrail has broadened our
opportunities to connect rail service between the North and South along the
eastern seaboard," said J. Randall Evans, CSXT vice president for real estate
and industrial development. "Our significant service improvements during the
last seven months have increased our ability to serve our customers and
increase industrial development initiatives along our expanded rail system.
We are committed to partnering with state and county economic development
officials, a well as to commercial realtors, to create a stronger economic
base for the communities along our system."
Through its industrial development program, CSXT has played a key role in
the last six years in helping more than 650 companies locate along its
rail lines. Since 1994, CSXT has supported a total of approximately
$12.3 billion in industrial development projects, creating more than
31,000 new jobs. While generating new jobs and investment dollars in eastern
and Midwestern states, these projects provide CSXT with new customers and
revenue.
CSXT employs about 2,800 people in Ohio with an annual payroll of nearly
$115 million. CSXT and its 35,000 employees provide rail transportation and
distribution services over a 23,000 route-mile network in 23 states, the
District of Columbia and two Canadian provinces. CSXT is a business unite of
CSX Corporation , headquartered in Richmond, Va.
